Here are some of the great events coming up between April and June in Sydney.
The Kurnell is the second oldest Triathlon event in Australia and the event is held in the wonderful Kamay Bay National Park. This event is now in its 27th year and takes full advantage of its location, the swim takes place in the clear waters of the bay and is followed by a cycle leg around the iconic park with its wonderful views.
Finally the race is completed with the sprint, it is a notoriously quick foot race as it too follows a park course. This event is spectacular to witness, and the strength and endurance of the athletes has to be seen to be believed.
Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day
A trip to the races is always a fun day out, and one of the most iconic Australian racetracks is Royal Randwick. Saturday 14th of April marks The Championships and the second day which is Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day.
The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a Group 1 race that has a $4 million prize, and many trainers, jockeys and owners dream of winning. This thoroughbred race is highly contested and is watched the world over by horse fanatics.
Australian World Orchestra
From the 2nd till the 4th of May a musical extravaganza takes place in Sydney when the best classical musicians in the world come together for a concert series.
This year Riccardo Muti takes the baton and conducts this multi-talented group of performers at the iconic Sydney Opera House. The Maestro will lead 86 of the world’s leading musicians for three great concerts including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4 and Brahms 2nd Symphony.
If you love classical music then you will adore this wonderful series of celebration of the art, performed and conducted at the very highest of levels.
Sydney Film Festival
Dates are still to be confirmed but June will see the extraordinary Sydney Film Festival once more taking place. As normal it will focus on the best Australian cinema from across the country in all genres including short films, documentaries, feature films and animation.
The red carpet will be rolled out in cinemas, theatres and open air showings all around the city. The festival will also focus upon twelve films that will compete for the AUD 60,000 cash first prize.
